Displaying wreaths and garlands can enhance any Christmas décor, but the challenge is often doing so without causing damage. To help with this, we’ve outlined six ways to hang artificial greenery without leaving any permanent marks.
If you want to hang a wreath without nails, use adhesive or command hooks. They’re practical because you can remove and reposition them on doors, walls, and staircases. Opt for clear ones for mirrors and windows for a seamless look.

Step 1
Clean and dry the surface before you apply the adhesive hook. This will improve its grip and keep it secure.
Step 2
Hang your Christmas garland or wreath. Use another hook at the bottom of the wreath for added support.

Step 1
Stick the adhesive hook on the handrail.
Step 2
Hang the wreath. Use another hook at the bottom of the wreath for added stability.
Step 3
For garlands, line up command hooks with even spaces between each one. Ensure you have enough support in the middle and on each end of the garland’s length.

Step 4
Fluff the foliage to hide the hooks.
Step 5
To keep your greenery secure, use clear zip ties, jute string, or garland ties.
Garlands can be twice as long as the length of your handrails to account for draping, while wreaths can be about 50 to 75% of the baluster’s height.
A transparent nylon fishing line or cord is strong, versatile, and almost invisible from afar, making it one of the niftiest hacks to hang a garland without nails.
3 Tiles
Step 1
Place an adhesive hook on the interior side above eye level, with the hook part facing downward.
Step 2
Tie one end of the nylon cord around the hook to keep it in place. The cord should be long enough to go over the top of the door and hang your wreath from your desired height outside.
Step 3
Tie the other end of the nylon cord around your wreath, then suspend your wreath from the inside of your door.

Step 1
Start from the bottom of the stairs. Wrap the cord around one end of the garland and the top of the banister. Tie the cord in a secure knot to keep it in place.
Step 2
Do the same with the other end of the garland.
Step 3
Tie the center of the garland to the stair rail nearest to the landing for a draping effect.
Step 4
Fluff the foliage to hide the nylon string once the garland is in place.

Hanging wreaths with ribbon or natural twine is a great Christmas decorating idea. It’s functional and adds a stylish element to your overall décor.
Step 1
Loop one end of the ribbon through the center of the wreath.
Step 2
Bind both ends of the ribbon with a tight knot.
Step 3
Find a surface with a hook, and then hang your wreath.

Craft wire is more heavy-duty compared to ribbon or nylon. If you were wondering how to hang a wreath over a mantel, this would be one of the best materials.
Step 1
Loop the craft wire through the back frame of the wreath.
Step 2
Use the loop to hang your wreath from a peg or hook, then twist the wire to secure it.
Step 3
Cover the craft wire with a decorative ribbon to make it less visible.

Many greenery hangers fit standard doors with steel frames to support heavier foliage without damaging doors. Some are also adjustable, so you can customize the height of your display.
Step 1
Clean and dry the surface before you apply the adhesive hook. This will improve its grip and keep it secure.
Step 2
Hang your Christmas garland or wreath. Use another hook at the bottom of the wreath for added support.
Use double door wreath hangers to display wreaths from both sides of your door.

If you’re trying to figure out how to put a garland on a fireplace mantel or outside the door without using nails, then a garland hanger is the best solution. Balsam Hill garland hangers use spring tension, so there’s no need to drill surfaces. They’re also available for single and double doors.
Step 1
Mount your garland hanger and adjust it to fit the display area’s width.
Step 2
Loop your garland over the center and corners of your garland hanger.
Step 3
Adjust the garland to fit your door or mantel. Fluff the foliage to finish.
To hang Christmas garland without nails, you can use adhesive hooks like Command hooks or light clips, ribbons and twine tied to existing fixtures, or special garland hangers. For smooth surfaces, clear tape or hot glue on painter's tape can also work, while C-clamps or tension-mounted rods can be used on brick or doorframes, respectively.
To hang a Christmas wreath without nails, use an over-the-door hanger, an adhesive hook on the inside or outside of the door, or a suction cup hook for smooth surfaces. Another option is to use a ribbon threaded through the wreath and over the top of the door, securing it on the inside with tape or a small hook.
Use removable adhesive hooks, suction cups, or over-the-door hangers to hang decorations without leaving marks. These options hold securely while being easy to remove after the holidays without peeling paint or causing holes.
To hang Christmas decorations without nails, you can use adhesive hooks, gutter clips, vinyl siding clips, or suction cup hooks for lights and wreaths on smooth surfaces. For garlands, you can use ribbons or twine to tie them to railings or other fixtures, or use heavy-duty double-sided tape for a more secure hold.
Adhesive hooks typically don’t stick well to rough or porous brick surfaces. For brick walls, it’s better to use brick clips or specially designed outdoor hangers that grip the brick without drilling or causing damage.
