Ghosts, Bats, & Other Easy Halloween Paper Crafts
Wondering what crafts you can make for Halloween? Many crafting materials are things you probably already have lying around at home like cotton balls, mason jars, and markers. Check out these easy Halloween craft ideas you can try.
Ghost Lollipops
- Place a lollipop in the center of two coffee filters or round tissue paper.
- Gently pull down the edges around the candy, ruffling the edges as you go along.
- Tie the neck with a black ribbon, string, or rubber band, and draw the eyes and mouth using a marker.
- Place the ghost lollipops in a galvanized container to turn it into a table centerpiece or in a pumpkin candy bowl for trick-or-treaters.
Paper Plate Jack-O’-Lanterns
- Place the paper plates bottom side up on the table and using a red or orange crayon, draw heavy curved lines from the top to the bottom.
- With a black crayon, draw the face and color inside the eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Paint the bottom side of the plates with orange water color or poster paint, then let them dry completely.
- To add a stem, cut out a small rectangle from green paper or felt and glue it to the back of the plate.
- Add a small piece of string to the stem, with both ends glued together to form a loop, then hang your jack-o-lanterns on windows and doors for a spooky greeting.
Hanging Bats
- Find and download a bat template design you like, print and cut it out, then let the kids trace the shape on black construction paper.
- You can cut out the bat shapes for them or let them do it themselves, depending on their age.
- Use a red marker to draw the eyes and a white marker for the mouth and fangs. You can also stick googly eyes if you have them.
- Tape or glue a piece of string at the back of the tail part so that the bat is upside down when you hang it.
- Ask the children to help hang the bats on your mantel, doorways, or banisters as part of your Halloween décor.
Spider Handprints
- Trace and cut your child’s hands from black construction paper or card stock. These will be the spider legs.
- For the body, cut out a round shape from black felt or thick paper.
- Glue the hand cut-outs to the back of the felt and a pair of googly eyes on the front.
- Craft as many as the kids would like and stick them to the wall to create a spider corner.
Paper Bag Monsters
- Start by painting a lunch paper bag with any color the kids like. They can use watercolor, crayons, markers, or anything you have on hand. Let it dry completely.
- Draw and cut out assorted shapes such as eyes, fangs, and horns from card stock or construction paper.
- With the folded side of the lunch bag facing you, glue on the eyes, nose, and whatever else the kids made for the monster’s face.
- You can these for a puppet show or display them on a table by the front door to welcome guests.
